Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Contract)
Location: Metropolis, Illinois

Job Summary
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics.
- Provide care for trauma patients of all ages.
- Serve as house supervisor when necessary, including weekends, holidays, and night shifts.
- Communicate with EMS, 911, ambulance services, and first responders using two-way radio.
- Prioritize and reassess patients in the Emergency Room (ER) based on acuity.
- Perform patient call-backs following ER treatment as per policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive nursing assessments and document appropriately.
- Administer medications or delegate medication administration to LPNs.
- Perform or delegate nursing interventions ensuring safe and effective care.
- Advocate for patients and evaluate responses to interventions and care plans.
- Provide health education to patients and families/caregivers.
- Administer blood products.
- Supervise LPNs and CNAs as needed to ensure competent patient care.
- Pass competency and proficiency testing as required by the department or hospital.
- Maintain current professional licenses and certifications.
Additional Duties
- Comply with hospital policies including safety, HIPAA, infection control, and accreditation standards.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, coworkers, and physicians.
- Participate in staff meetings and hospital committees as appropriate.
- Work in an organized, accountable, and competent manner, following instructions.
- Demonstrate respect, courtesy, and care in all interactions.
- Show initiative and ownership in job performance.
- Adapt to changing assignments and serve a diverse community.
- Promote hospital services within the service delivery area.
- Function effectively under stressful conditions involving workload and interdepartmental coordination.
- Keep knowledge and skills current through education, in-services, and training.
- Report concerns or problems to the next shift or manager.
- Assist others with their work as needed.
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS/BCLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- ATT (Advanced Trauma Training)
This position requires a motivated nurse comfortable working in a fast-paced, diverse environment with trauma and emergency care responsibilities, including supervisory duties.
