Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Specialty: Registered Nurse

Job Overview

  • Minimum Experience: 1 year (1st time travelers accepted)
  • Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
  • Work Setting: Main Operating Room (OR)
  • Surgical Specialties: General, Neuro, Spine, Orthopedics, Robotics, Urology, Vascular, Colorectal
  • Required Experience: Circulating and Scrubbing in OR
  • Unit Systems: Epic, Pyxis, 2 DaVinci XI Robots
  • Room Setup: 16 rooms, average daily census of 35
  • Scrub Color: Provided by facility

Schedule & Work Conditions

  • Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Weekends: Average 2-3 shifts per contract period
  • Floating: Rare
  • Call Requirements: 7-8 calls in a 6-week schedule plus 1 weekend call and 1-2 weekend shifts
  • Holidays: Expected to work major holidays during assignment (up to 2 if 3 fall within period)
  • Major Holidays Include:
    • New Year’s Eve and Day
    • Spring Break (no RTO)
    • Memorial Day
    • Independence Day
    • Labor Day
    • Thanksgiving/Black Friday
    • Christmas Eve and Day

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification, EFM, and others may be required depending on specialty (refer to clinical track guidelines)
  • State License: Must be licensed in Georgia
  • Education Verification: Degree verification required (can be pending with proof)

Compliance & Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time; non-compliance results in 2-week delay due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Orientation hours are non-billable and proportional to contract length (e.g., 14 weeks = 14 hours)

Health & Background Requirements

  • Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start
  • Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; instant drug screen accepted if needed
  • TB Testing: Negative PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations:
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
    • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)

Competency Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required by agency)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for certain specialties)
  • General Competency Exam (required by agency)

Additional Notes

  • Candidate will undergo clinical screening to determine fit before final manager approval
  • Locals accepted at same rate
  • Must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
  • References: 2 clinical references required by agency
  • Skills Checklist and Work History Verification required (can be pending with proof)

This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-tech OR environment with a diverse surgical patient population, requiring strong circulating and scrubbing skills and flexibility with call and holiday coverage.
