Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Dunn, North Carolina
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry/Behavioral Health
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Ratios: 1:5-6
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Certifications Required: BLS (Basic Life Support)
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Required within scope; must be comfortable floating between two nearby units
- Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (50-mile radius rule applies)
- Pending License: Not accepted
- Return to Work Policy: Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
- Contract Limit: Maximum of 2 contracts (can extend once), then must be gone for 6 months before returning
- Guaranteed Hours: After 2 call-offs in a 13-week assignment, all contracted hours are guaranteed

Required Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or Military only, legal name documentation required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for specific units (ED, ICUs, EMS, etc.)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for certain units (ED, OR, PICU, PACU)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for L&D, FCCU, NICU
- NIH Stroke Certification: Must be updated annually for specific units (ED, ICUs, Step Down, etc.)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Required for awareness on multiple units; candidates have 3 attempts to pass with remediation required after failures
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Must be completed annually via Relias; required for various units (ER, ICU, Med Surg, Tele, etc.)
Background & Health Requirements
- Background Check: Required within 6 months of start; includes SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide and sex offender searches, and international search if applicable
- Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcript acceptable if verification unavailable
- Physical Exam: Required within 1 year, updated annually
- Immunizations & Titers:
- TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within last 10 years (no declinations accepted after 2/22/2021)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted after 2/22/2021)
- Varicella: Titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted after 2/22/2021)
- Hepatitis B: Vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted
- TB Screening: Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual renewal required
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (specific substances listed)
- Flu Vaccine: Required year-round; medical or religious exemptions require facility approval and must be resubmitted annually
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required but accepted if available

- Completion of mandatory orientation and modules prior to start
- Facility-specific job descriptions and acknowledgments must be reviewed and signed
