Travel RN Opportunity - Med-Surg Unit, Rockport, Maine

Position Overview

• Unit: 45-bed medical-surgical unit
• Shift: Day shift (06:45 - 19:15)
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
• Weekend Hours: Every other weekend, 36 hours
• Float Requirements: Yes
• Patient Ratios: 1:5 on days, 1:6 on nights
• Number of Openings: Approximately 3.3 FTEs on days and 4.5 FTEs on nights
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience preferred
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - required
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - preferred but not mandatory for travelers on this unit
• Skills:

  • IV skills
  • Telemetry monitoring
  • Accurate documentation
  • Patient-focused and organized approach

Patient Population & Unit Details

• Patient types: Medical-surgical including orthopedic, general surgery, and urology patients
• Common diagnoses: Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Pneumonia (PNA)
• Pediatric patients may be admitted to the general floor; PALS certification required to care for pediatric patients
• Equipment used: Plum pumps, Pyxis medication system, Ascom phones, bladder scanner, EKG machine, Phillips Cardiac Monitor
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: EPIC

Additional Notes

• Current staffing includes 1 RN on FMLA and several traveler contracts ending soon
• New graduate positions are available but currently have no applicants
