Description

Registered Nurse (Med/Surg Telemetry) - Travel/Contract

Location: Warrensville Heights, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night shifts, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 or 48 hour option)
  • Experience Required: Minimum 18 months recent permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
  • Licensing: Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
  • Certifications Required:
    • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Holiday Work: Must work at least every other holiday
  • Assessments:
    • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication test during orientation (passing score required)
  • Documentation Submission: Hours worked submitted via Qualivis – Lotus system

Required Credentials & Compliance

Background Checks

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
  • Comprehensive background check prior to start, including:
    • FCRA compliant 7-year search (SSN Trace, Counties, States, Nationwide)
    • National Sex Offender Registry
    • OFAC, FACIS Level 3
    • Education verification
  • Background checks must be updated annually or after breaks in service of 2+ months
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start, updated annually
    • Must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract
    • Fingerprints done under code 4723.09 (Nursing)
    • Facility will conduct additional fingerprinting onsite
    • Candidates may start with fingerprint results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start

Certifications

  • Mandatory:
    • ACLS (AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI acceptable)
    • BLS (AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI acceptable)
  • Preferred/As Applicable:
    • PALS, NRP, TNCC, CHEMO, Tech Cert Verification, NIH Stroke Certification
  • Annual acknowledgment of Orientation Safety Manual and Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required
  • State License verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
  • Pass/Fail ECG & Medication testing during orientation (not required for legacy candidates with <6 month gap)

Health Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
  • Fit Mask (N95) fit test within 12 months, updated annually
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series
    • Varicella vaccinations or positive titer
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)

Onboarding & Orientation

  • Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
  • Modules include SafeMedicate preparation materials and other facility-specific training
  • Modules must be completed fully (video watched before test)
  • Onboarding process may take multiple days; candidates should prioritize completion
  • Candidates returning to the system with less than 6 months gap may have some onboarding requirements waived

Employment History & References

  • Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area
  • Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director)
  • Co-worker references are not acceptable

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID at all times on assignment
  • Must be prepared to complete all required assessments and documentation timely to avoid delays
  • Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification to ensure proper supplies

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, seeking a travel contract with a reputable healthcare system, working night shifts with a strong emphasis on compliance and credentialing.
