Description

Physical Therapist - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Rio Rico, Arizona
Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation

Job Description

As a Physical Therapist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating and treating various physical therapy patients per physician’s referral or direct access
  • Establishing and supervising physical therapy assistants according to the PT plan of care
  • Becoming competent in evaluating and treating injured workers, including use of ACOMP systems for Return to Work plans
  • Utilizing modalities and exercise equipment available in the facility
  • Performing post-offer testing such as WorkSTEPS or APET
  • Conducting Work Hardening Evaluations or Functional Capacity Evaluations
  • Performing ergonomic evaluations or job analysis
  • Supervising cleaning and organizational tasks, directing PT technicians
  • Scheduling patient visits, answering phones, and taking referrals as needed
  • Properly utilizing billing codes for various payer types
  • Updating rehab nurses weekly on patient progress
  • Maintaining communication with referring physicians through timely evaluation and progress notes
  • Maintaining all required licensure in good standing for the state of employment
  • Keeping employee information current for liability insurance coverage
  • Maintaining a professional attitude with patients, doctors, case managers, insurance reps, and other contacts
  • Assisting marketing efforts by developing relationships with referral sources and participating in educational programs
  • Marketing to industries, doctors, case managers, and other contacts when patient load allows
  • Actively participating in community events or organizations representing the facility
  • Willingness to perform additional tasks as needed for the benefit of the organization

Required Credentials & Documentation

  • Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
  • Emergency Contact Form (required prior to start)
  • Background Check (7-year search including SS trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender check; updated annually)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check (annual)
  • HHS/OIG check (annual)
  • Copy of Diploma/Transcript
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, preferably from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification preferred
  • National Tech Certification as applicable
  • State License verification (primary source online verification)
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
  • Competency Exam (as applicable)
  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year of start (with specific protocols for past positives)
  • Proof of immunity or vaccination for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) for candidates born in 1957 or later
  • Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination or history of chickenpox
  • 9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • Two professional references (for travel, allied, per diem acute care roles) or one professional reference (per diem non-acute care) within 3 years of start
  • Completed employment application/resume
  • Annual Skills Checklist

Licensure & Compliance

  • Must maintain all licensure requirements in good standing for the state of employment (Arizona)
  • All documentation must be kept current to maintain liability insurance coverage

This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic rehabilitation environment with a focus on injured workers, ergonomic evaluations, and functional capacity testing, while also engaging in community and marketing activities.
