Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Springfield, Oregon
Facility Type: Short-Term Acute Care, Nonprofit Level II Trauma Center
Total Staffed Beds: 385
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Start Date: ASAP (allow 4 weeks from offer for compliance)
- Shift: 4x10 hour day shifts, 11:00 AM - 9:30 PM
- Ratios: 1:1 patient ratio
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- On-Call: Yes, up to four 8-hour shifts per 4-week cycle
- Weekend Requirement: To be determined
- Orientation: Held bi-weekly on Mondays
- Locals Accepted: No
- Pending License Accepted: Yes
- Floating: No floating outside scope of practice
- Block Schedule Accommodation: To be determined
Experience & Skills Required
- Trauma experience required
- Comfortable working in a Level 2 trauma unit
- Well-rounded experience in multiple specialties including:
- Orthopedics (2 years Level 1-2 experience including total joints)
- Neuroscience (2 years Level 2 experience including craniotomies)
- General/Trauma, Vascular, Endovascular/Hybrid, GYN/Uro, ENT/Plastics, Eyes, Robotics
- Minimum 1 year Epic charting experience required
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Strongly preferred
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Strongly preferred
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., TNCC for trauma, NIH Stroke Certification)
Unit & Equipment Information
- High acuity ortho, neuro, and general cases performed continuously
- Equipment includes:
- DaVinci Robotics (4 active robot rooms, including DaVinci Xi)
- Doppler, Ultrasound, Neptune, Aquamantis, Video Systems, Lasers
- Various Stapling Systems, Hana and Jackson tables
- Neuro Beds with attachments, Cryoablation
Charting System
- Epic
Compliance & Requirements
- Background checks required within 60 days of start (7-year search including SSN trace, counties/states lived/worked, federal and national criminal checks)
- Social Security verification required (may start pending)
- Drug testing required within 30 days of start (specific panels required)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N95 fit testing onsite if providing patient care)
- Immunizations and health documentation required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (full vaccine or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella immunity or declination
- Hepatitis B immunity or declination
- Varicella immunity or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccine or religious exemption documentation as applicable
- Orientation manual and quizzes must be completed prior to start with 100% score
- Various facility-specific forms and checklists required prior to start
Additional Notes
- No first-timers accepted for this role
- Must review and comply with facility dress code, masking policy, personnel restrictions due to illness, and other facility-specific policies
- Parking is free
- Scrub color provided in OR
This position is ideal for experienced trauma nurses comfortable in a fast-paced Level II trauma center with diverse specialty exposure and strong Epic skills.
