Nursing Contract Opportunity - Hilo, Hawaii
Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit and Work Environment
- Progressive Care Unit (15 beds)
- 3 Step-down ICU beds
- 12 telemetry beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- 1:4 in Progressive Care
- 1:3 in Step-down ICU
- Scheduled 36 hours per week after orientation
- No call required
- Floating required to all acute units including Medical, Surgical/Pediatrics, ICU, and ER
Job Requirements
- Must have an active Hawaii nursing license by the start of assignment (travelers without one must apply immediately upon offer acceptance)
- At least 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year
- Progressive Care and telemetry experience preferred
Skills and Duties
- Primary nursing care
- Telemetry monitoring and strip reading
- Fingerstick blood sugar testing
- Use of equipment such as Meditech charting system, Pyxis medication system, BiPAP, and continuous cardiac monitoring
Certifications
- ACLS preferred
- Current PALS preferred
- NIHSS certification preferred
- BLS/BCLS required
Additional Information
- Must arrive the Thursday before the start date for employee health appointment on Friday
- Dress code: Scrubs
