Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Brownwood, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Preferred start date: January
- Shift: Day shift, approximately 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM (end time may vary by about an hour)
- On-call required
- Travel experience strongly preferred
- Must live more than 150 miles from the facility or reside in a metropolitan area
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Texas RN License or Compact License
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor, Provider, RQI acceptable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- NIH Stroke Certification (annual updates required)
- Additional certifications as applicable: PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, ENPC, etc. (refer to job details for applicability)
Experience & Skills
- Experience with MedHost and GE MacLab systems
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 1 year of start; updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification (highest level) required
- State-specific checks for Texas (Employability Status Check and Employee Misconduct Registry) within 30 days of start
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC within 10 business days prior to start; facility conducts additional drug screen on arrival (positive results lead to cancellation)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
- Fit test (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S mask), updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (PPD or QGold/Tspot) within 1 year of start
- TB questionnaire annually
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Flu vaccination or exemption required for 2025-26 season
- Drug testing plan required within 72 hours of contract signing
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion and signing of various acknowledgments and forms prior to start, including:
- Vaccination Information Acknowledgment
- TB and Occupational Exposure Acknowledgment
- Patient Centered Pledge
- Contract Employee Receipt and Acknowledgement
- Computer Security Agreement
- Corporate Compliance Acknowledgment
- Confidentiality Statement
- Employee Misconduct Registry Acknowledgment
- Self Identify Form
- Relationship to Physician Form
- Authorization for Background Check
- Traveler Identification Form
- Review of Employee Handbook (information only)
- Completion of orientation modules (~3-4 hours) during orientation
- Parking available for orientation and employment (no fee)
Competency & Testing
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Pass/Fail testing (EKG/Medication) required for Telemetry RNs with up to 2 attempts
- Color Blind Testing (online Ishihara test) required
- Annual skills checklist update required
References & Documentation
- Two references required within 3 years of start
- Copy of resume/application required

- Must comply with all facility and system-specific documentation and credentialing requirements
- Travel experience is strongly preferred for this role
- Onsite drug screen includes marijuana; candidates should avoid any substances that could cause a positive result upon arrival
