Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Seattle, Washington
Facility: Providence Swedish First Hill Campus
Job Summary
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Minimum Experience: 2 years (candidates with less than 2 years or no experience with C-sections require manager approval)
- First Time Travelers: Accepted
Unit & Float Information
- Primary Unit: High Risk Antepartum
- Float: Required to Postpartum unit and Labor & Delivery (L&D) units
- No newborn care on postpartum unit; care includes postpartum mothers with babies in NICU
- High Risk Antepartum care includes patients 6 to 41 weeks gestation with conditions such as PTL, previa, preeclampsia, diabetes, hypertension, PROM, twins, substance use disorder, fetal demise/loss
Clinical Responsibilities
- Assist with sterile speculum exams (effacement, dilation, station, presentation)
- Support amnio or sterile spec exam at bedside
- Manage PCA pumps, PICC/central lines, syringe pumps
- Administer medications including heparin, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate
- Circulate for C-sections
Required Certifications
- AWHONN Advanced (Intermediate AWHONN candidates require manager approval)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred but not required
Scrub Requirements
- Any color scrubs allowed; scrubs provided when floated to L&D units
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Check: Must be within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations & Health Documents:
- TDAP (within 10 years) or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Fit Mask Test: Required for travel candidates, updated annually
- Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required for travel candidates, updated annually
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty within last 3 years
- Employment Application: Must include at least last 5 years of employment history
Licensing & Verification
- Active Washington State RN license or compact license accepted
- NURSYS verification required for all RNs
- Education Verification required for all candidates
- State-specific background and registry checks as applicable
Training & Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Skills Checklist: Required annually for applicable units
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring Assessment exam required for L&D RNs
- WorkRamp Modules:
- Required pre-start and annual regulatory modules for all caregivers except non-clinical and certain specialties
- Specialty-specific modules required for ER, L&D, and leadership roles
- Modules assigned based on region, profession, and specialty
Additional Notes
- Float Policy Acknowledgement required; may float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
- Badge photo not required for this facility
- Candidates must complete all required modules and upload documentation prior to or at start as per facility guidelines
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity obstetrics setting with a focus on high-risk antepartum and postpartum care, including support for labor and delivery procedures. Candidates should be prepared for floating responsibilities and meet all certification and compliance requirements.
