Registered Nurse (ICU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Facility: Level 1 Trauma Center

Position Details

• Specialty: ICU Registered Nurse
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Orientation: First week on day shift (orientation + precepting)
• Float Requirement: Mandatory float within ICU units (Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, Neuro ICU) and possibly to Medical-Surgical units as needed
• Return to Office (RTO): Up to 5 days off maximum, no more than 2 consecutive days; no RTO on holidays, day before/after holidays, or weekends

Experience & Certification Requirements

• Minimum 2 years recent acute care ICU experience
• Required Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification (required for ICU and critical care specialties)
• Locals accepted and preferred (must live within 75 miles of facility)
• Pending licenses are not accepted

• Uses Cerner for charting
• Scrub color: Navy blue (not provided)
• Level 1 Trauma Center
• Located in Chicago, IL

Mandatory Compliance & Documentation

• Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
• Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
• Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, required annually
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
  • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if low titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination within 1 year
  • Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if low titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct-Apr)
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
• Required competency exams (medication/pharmacology, color blind testing, dysrhythmia/EKG for applicable roles) within 12 months of start

Additional Notes

• Must complete facility-specific forms prior to start (RN HIS Forms and others as applicable)
• Must comply with mandatory float policy across ICU and possibly other units
• No call requirements
• No block scheduling
