Description

Job Opportunity: Surgical Tech CVOR (Travel/Contract)

Location: Loveland, Colorado
Specialty: Surgical Services (Cardiovascular Operating Room - CVOR)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Shifts:
    • 3x12 hour shifts (06:30 - 19:00) or
    • 4x10 hour shifts (06:30 - 17:00)
  • Call Requirement:
    • 1 night per week
    • 1 weekend per month (Friday 17:00 to Monday 06:00)
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes, as per unit needs
  • Number of OR Rooms: 12
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Staffing Ratios: 1-2 RNs and 1 Surgical Tech per room
  • Floating: No floating between units required
  • Purpose: Support dual call teams on weekends for cardiac and vascular cases and assist two new surgeons starting in summer

Experience & Certification Requirements

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) experience required
  • Certifications Required:
    • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • DORA issued state license (can be pending during submittal, but proof required)
    • National certification for Surgical Techs if certified through NBSTSA
  • Additional Notes:
    • Prior traveler experience preferred but not explicitly required
    • ACLS, PALS, NRP, and other specialty certifications not required for this role unless specified by facility

Time Off / Restrictions

  • Maximum of 10 RTO (Return to Office) days approved
  • No RTO allowed during these blackout periods:
    • December 21, 2025 – January 3, 2026
    • March 14 – March 21, 2026
    • May 8 – May 11, 2026
    • May 21 – May 27, 2026
  • Flexibility may be considered for harder-to-fill positions

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year background check including SSN trace, Colorado state checks, education verification, sex offender search, OFAC sanctions, etc.
  • Licensure:
    • Colorado state license required within 60 days of start
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA
    • Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually
    • Immunizations and titers including TDAP, TB test, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella
    • Drug testing within 30 days of start, updated annually
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific exemption required during flu season
    • COVID vaccine documentation or signed declination required
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam, Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam, Core Part I-III, OSHA mandatory training—all required within 1 year of start and updated annually
  • Other:
    • Ishihara color blind exam required prior to start (online testing not accepted)
    • References: 2 references from last 2 years required, including one from the last year, from charge RN, manager, or supervisor
    • Employment history verification for last 3 years required with explanations for gaps over 30 days
