Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Fayetteville, Georgia
Specialty: Registered Nurse (Med-Surg Unit)
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Unit Details
- All Med-Surg diagnoses including but not limited to: Pneumonia, Sepsis, Renal, Pancreatitis, General surgeries pre/post, Orthopedics, COPD, COVID-19, GI issues, and Sickle Cell Crisis
- Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
- Call: None
- Floating: Within facility and scope of practice
- Minimum Experience: 1 year (First-time travelers accepted)
Experience Requirements
- Specialty Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in Med-Surg nursing
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (unit accepts first-time travelers)
Orientation & Compliance
- Orientation hours vary by contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
- Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time; delays in compliance may result in a 2-week start delay due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
- Manager reviews candidate profile within 48 hours of confirmation to ensure fit
Holiday Work Expectations
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler expected to work it
- If 2 major holidays fall during assignment, traveler expected to work both
- If 3 major holidays fall during assignment, traveler expected to work 2 of them
- Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
Required Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or ARC accepted
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for many specialties; check if required for Med-Surg
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required only if working in pediatric-related areas (not typically Med-Surg)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Check specialty requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required for RNs by Aya
- Color Blind Testing: Required for all candidates; alternative assessment available if needed
- Competency Exam: Required for Nursing by Aya
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required for Telemetry and critical care areas; may not apply to Med-Surg
- State License Verification: Must have valid Georgia RN license within 30 days prior to start
- NURSYS Verification: Annual verification required within 30 days prior to start
Background & Health Requirements
- Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with specific protocols if positive history)
- TB Questionnaire required annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required
Additional Requirements
- Skills checklist updated within last 12 months
- Work history verification of most recent employer (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
- Two clinical references required by Aya (not required by client)
- Review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance
Notes
- Locals accepted at the same rate as travelers
- Floating assignments are within the facility and scope of practice
- No call responsibilities
- Orientation and compliance requirements are strict to ensure timely start
This position is suitable for Registered Nurses with at least 1 year of Med-Surg experience, including first-time travel nurses, who are prepared to comply with facility and Aya staffing requirements.
