Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Labor and Postpartum)
Location: Shakopee, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Labor and Postpartum (Level 2 experience a plus)
- Shift: 0.9 FTE, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
- On-call: Yes, may be required depending on unit needs
- Floating: Will float within scope as needed
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Locals Accepted: No (within 100-mile radius)
- Pending License Accepted: Yes
- Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days
Experience Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
- Preferred Experience: Strong Labor & Delivery, Mother-Baby Couplets, NICU Level III experience preferred
- First-timers Accepted: Yes
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Additional Certifications (as applicable):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- Certifications must be from AHA or ARC; RQI accepted for some. Certificate of completion alone is not accepted.

- Trauma Level: Level 3 Trauma Center
- Total Staffed Beds: 63
- Charting System: Epic (Excellian)
- Scrub Color: Provided by unit
- Parking: Free in any unrestricted space
- Latex: Facility is latex-free
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check required within 1 year of start (7-year standard MN statewide search)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 1 year
- Fingerprinting via Minnesota DHS Net Study required before start; candidates cannot start with fingerprints pending unless approved "more time needed" letter is provided
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start required
- Drug testing (9-panel) within 1 year required but not for client clearance
- Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start (RespSafety virtual questionnaire)
- Photo for badge must be passport style, forward-facing, shoulders up, plain background, submitted within 48 hours of signing
Immunization & Health Requirements
- Adult Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap) required; declinations not accepted without approved exemption
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months required; TB results must be on file no later than 3 days after start
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer required; no exemptions for patient-facing candidates
- Hepatitis B: Positive IGG titer, proof of series, or signed declination required
- Varicella: Positive IGG titer or 2 vaccines required; no exemptions accepted
- Seasonal Flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-2026 season; declinations accepted
Additional Requirements
- Skills checklist required annually
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required
- Preorientation online modules must be completed within 72 hours of receiving login; modules take 3-9 hours depending on specialty
- Badge request forms and photo submission required for access
- References not required for client clearance but required for Per Diem candidates
Notes
- Candidates may be required to float within their scope to meet facility needs
- Guaranteed hours may be subject to cancellation without penalty
- Candidates must complete Minnesota DHS Net Study Questionnaire immediately after signing contract to initiate fingerprinting process
- Candidates must be prepared to travel to a livescan fingerprint location if not within driving distance of Minnesota locations
This position is ideal for Registered Nurses with labor and postpartum experience seeking a travel contract in a Level 3 trauma acute care hospital setting with a focus on mother-baby care.
