Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse with CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) experience for a travel/contract position. The role involves working primarily in the CVOR with potential float to the main OR on the same campus if CVOR volume is low.
Required Qualifications
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years (highest required)

- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- Skills:
- CVOR experience required
- Preferred Skills/Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Level 1 trauma experience
- Proficiency in scrubbing cardiac cases preferred but not required
Work Schedule & Requirements
- Shift: 10-hour day shifts, 4 days per week (06:15 - 16:45)
- Call Requirement:
- Call on scheduled days (4 days/week)
- May work 5 days in a week if called in on call weekend
- Average of 14 call days per 6-week schedule
- Call shift every third weekend
- Ratios: 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Float: May float to main OR on the same campus if no CVOR volume
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Scrubs: Provided (blue)
Additional Job Details
- Contract staff will be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty, or disasters.
- Consolidation to a centralized office mid-contract may occur with reassignment to needed units.

- Pyxis (medication dispensing)
- EPIC (electronic health record)
- SBAR (communication tool)
Important Notes
- No Return to Office (RTO) after booking allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation and Do Not Rehire status.
- Scheduling is determined by the manager.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements (Summary)
- Background checks within 6 months required
- Drug testing within 6 months required
- Various certifications and competencies may be required or preferred (e.g., ACLS, BLS, EKG competency)
- Health documents including TB test, immunizations (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella), flu vaccination or exemption required
- Facility-specific documents such as confidentiality agreement, hospital policies acknowledgment, medication safety training, and photo for badge required
- Candidates must complete Non-Novant Health Worker Orientation modules (approx. 8 hours) prior to start
- Radiation badge required if working in Cath Lab or related specialties
Summary
This is a 13-week travel contract RN position in Wilmington, NC, requiring at least 2 years of CVOR nursing experience. The role involves a 4-day 10-hour day shift schedule with call responsibilities, working primarily in cardiovascular OR settings with complex cardiac and thoracic cases. Prior travel experience is not required. Candidates must hold BLS certification and preferably ACLS and trauma experience. Orientation and various compliance requirements must be met before starting.
