Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Abilene, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Preferred start date: January
• Flexibility required to float to other campus or floors
• Must live within 150 miles of the facility
• Prior travel experience: Not required (1st time travelers accepted)
• Specialty experience required: 3 years preferred

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor, Provider, RQI acceptable)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor, Provider, RQI acceptable)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required as applicable
• AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses)

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check required within 1 year of start; must be updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Education verification (highest level) required
• State-specific checks for Texas (DADS Employability Status and Employee Misconduct Registry) within 30 days of start

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
• Fit mask (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S), updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (PPD or equivalent)
• Immunizations or positive titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Seasonal flu vaccine required for 10/1/2025 through 3/31/2026 (religious or medical exemptions accepted)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start (no exceptions)

Competency and Testing

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Color blindness test (online Ishihara version accepted)
• Pass/fail testing for Telemetry RNs (2 attempts allowed, 3 with manager approval)
• Skills checklist required and updated annually

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Candidate must review and sign multiple facility-specific acknowledgments and agreements prior to start, including:

  • Vaccination Information Acknowledgment
  • TB and Occupational Exposure Acknowledgment
  • Patient Centered Pledge
  • Contract Employee Receipt and Acknowledgement
  • Computer Security Agreement
  • Corporate Compliance Acknowledgment
  • Confidentiality Statement
  • Employee Misconduct Registry Acknowledgment
  • Self Identify Form
  • Relationship to Physician Form
  • Authorization for Background Check
  • Traveler Identification Form
• Review of employee handbook required (no submission needed)
• Orientation includes general information modules (~3-4 hours) and parking availability

• Must maintain flexibility and be willing to float as needed

This position is ideal for Registered Nurses with at least 3 years of experience who are flexible and meet the certification and health requirements listed above. Prior travel experience is not mandatory.
