Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Abilene, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Start Date: January preferred
  • Hours: Facility will consider 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Flexibility: May be asked to float to other campus or floors; must be flexible
  • Distance Requirement: Must live within 150 miles of the facility

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Years of Experience: 3 years preferred
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government Issued Photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
  • I9 or Attestation
  • E-Verify or Attestation
  • Background Check (7-year, updated annually) including:
    • SSN Trace
    • County, National, OFAC, Sex Offender checks
    • Motor Vehicle Check (for Home Health only)
    • Education Verification (highest level) or transcript/diploma
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • State-specific checks for Texas (DADS Employability Status and Employee Misconduct Registry) within 30 days of start

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
  • Fit Mask (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S), updated annually
  • Vaccinations and Titers:
    • TDAP (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (within 1 year)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if titers negative/equivocal
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; booster if titer negative/equivocal
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccine (required 10/1/2025 - 3/31/2026; religious/medical exemptions accepted)
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start; no pending results allowed

Competency & Testing

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
  • Color Blind Testing (online Ishihara test accepted)
  • Pass/Fail Testing for Telemetry RNs (EKG/Medication) with up to 2 attempts
  • Skills Checklist (annual update required)

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Completion and signing of various acknowledgments and agreements prior to start, including:
    • Vaccination Information Acknowledgment
    • TB and Occupational Exposure Acknowledgment
    • Patient Centered Pledge
    • Contract Employee Receipt and Acknowledgement
    • Computer Security Agreement
    • Corporate Compliance Acknowledgment
    • Confidentiality Statement
    • Employee Misconduct Registry Acknowledgment
    • Self Identify Form
    • Relationship to Physician Form
    • Authorization for Background Check
    • Traveler Identification Form
  • Review of Employee Handbook (information only)
  • Orientation modules (~3-4 hours) required during onboarding
  • Parking available for orientation and employment

References & Application

  • 2 professional references required within 3 years of start
  • Copy of resume/application required

  • Must be flexible to float between campuses or floors as needed
  • Must live within 150 miles of the facility location
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply; prior travel experience is not mandatory
