Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (CATH LAB - RN)
Location: Mooresville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details

- Orientation: Bi-Weekly
- Flu Vaccination: Required (no exemptions or declinations accepted)
Licensure & Certifications
- Must have a current North Carolina or compact nursing license
- Required Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit specifics (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO)
- State License and NURSYS verification required
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required at orientation (except for RRTs)
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Must meet all job requirements and qualifications as outlined by the facility/unit
- Competency exams specific to the unit are required
- Color Blind Testing Online required for certain roles (not disqualifying if not passed)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start, including:
- SSN Trace, counties lived/worked/schooled in last 7 years
- Alias searches, nationwide, sex offender, international (if applicable)
- Education verification for relevant specialties
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 90 days of start
- OFAC Sanctions List Search within 30 days of start
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical Exam: Within 12 months of start
- Fit Mask (N95 or equivalent) within 12 months (for Radiology/Cardiology roles)
- Immunizations and Health Documents:
- Flu vaccine (mandatory, no exemptions)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccinations or positive titers (no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters if low/equivocal)
- Polio vaccine or attestation
Documentation & Onboarding
- Employment application and 7 years of work history required
- Two professional references from employment within 12 months (at least one supervisor)
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Facility-specific documents and online modules must be completed prior to orientation
- Duke Guest Account setup required prior to clearance for access to orientation and work systems
- Competency checklists (CBOs) must be completed within 3 weeks after start date
Additional Notes
- Candidates with less than a 30-day gap between previous Duke assignments may have some documentation requirements waived or accepted on file
- Training such as Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) provided during orientation for applicable units
- Orientation includes pass/fail testing and unit-specific competency exams
This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of experience, who hold the required certifications and licensure, and are ready to work in a Cath Lab setting without weekend or on-call requirements. Flu vaccination is mandatory with no exemptions allowed.
