Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Med Surg) - Amarillo, Texas
Position Details

- Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information
- Med/Surg patient population
- Telemetry monitored in a centralized unit
- Free floating charge nurse role
- House discharge nurse floats across all departments
- 50 mile travel radius

Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
- Color Blind Testing (online)
- Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
- Core Parts I, II, III (annual completion required for subcontractors)
Licensure & Verification
- Primary source online verification of state license required
- NURSYS verification required for RN, LPN/LVN, AP
- Education verification required (highest level of education)
Background & Compliance Checks
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check upon hire
- HHS/OIG check upon hire
- Fingerprinting (time sensitive for certain locations)
- Work history verification for 7 years
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- TB questionnaire within 90 days of start (if positive TB test)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted; boosters if negative/equivocal
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required; boosters if negative/equivocal
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, marijuana, methadone, propoxyphene, phencyclidine, opiates, oxycodone/oxymorphone)
- Additional onsite drug screen during orientation (only 1 attempt allowed; includes marijuana)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required (dose 1 and fully vaccinated status)

- Unit-specific skills checklist (annual)
- References: Internal only; not required for clearance
- Consent forms and documentation as required for fingerprinting and background checks
This position offers a structured night shift schedule with a focus on Med/Surg nursing in a telemetry-monitored environment. Candidates must have at least 1 year of inpatient Med/Surg experience and Epic charting skills. Prior travel experience is not required. Compliance with extensive health, background, and certification requirements is mandatory.
