Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Oncology RN - Outpatient Chemo)
Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Details

- Chemotherapy Certification (ONS/ONCC Advanced)
- Charting System: Epic
Patient Population & Unit Details
- Patient Diagnoses: All cancer diagnoses, including hematology malignant and non-malignant conditions
- Unit Focus: Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy administration
Licensing & Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as applicable
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) as applicable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) as applicable
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) certification required as applicable
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as applicable
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) as applicable
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) as applicable
- State License verification required (primary source)
- NURSYS Verification required for RN licenses
Competencies & Testing
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
- Color Blind Testing (online acceptable)
- Competency Exams as applicable (minimum 80% passing score or higher if Angoff score is higher)
- Annual Core Testing for subcontractors
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam within 12 months of start
- Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
- Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test (2-Step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year
- TB Questionnaire for positive TB results (renew annually)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted; boosters if negative/equivocal
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required; boosters if negative/equivocal
- Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 Vaccination (Dose 1 and fully vaccinated) or approved medical/religious exemption required
Background & Documentation Requirements
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
- Education verification required (highest level)
- Work history verification for 7 years
- Skills checklist specific to unit required annually
- Complete application/resume required
- Clear headshot photo for badge
- Orientation packet review and signed acknowledgement required prior to start
Additional Notes
- Candidates must not reside in the following Texas counties: Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris.
- Fingerprinting and other onboarding steps may be required depending on location and contract specifics.
This position is ideal for experienced Oncology RNs with prior travel experience who are certified in chemotherapy administration and comfortable working in an outpatient chemo setting using Epic for charting.
