Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Newnan, Georgia
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Unit Details

  • Patient Diagnoses: General medical surgical & Peritoneal dialysis
  • Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
  • Call: None
  • Floating: Within facility/scope of practice as needed
  • Minimum Experience: 1 year (unit accepts first-time travelers)

Contract & Work Expectations

  • Maximum Return to Office (RTO) time: 7 days
  • Holiday Work:
    • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
    • If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both
    • If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work two of them
  • Major Holidays Include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day
  • Compliance: Full compliance required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Locals accepted at same rate
  • Orientation hours are non-billable and proportional to contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)

Experience Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Required Years of Experience: 1 year
  • Prior travel experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)

Certifications & Licenses

  • Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – required for many specialties including ER, PACU, Critical Care, Labor & Delivery, etc.
  • May be required depending on specialty:
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – for PACU, ER, and pediatric-accepting units
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – online course required within a few months of hire
    • State License (Georgia) verification within 30 days prior to start
    • NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP) annually within 30 days prior to start
  • Allied Annual License Verification (if applicable) within 30 days prior to start

Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for RNs and LVNs by Aya)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry, ICU, ER, and similar units)
  • General Competency Exam (required for Nursing and Allied by Aya)

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start (required by Aya)
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 12 months of start
  • TB Questionnaire (required annually for all candidates)
  • Immunizations:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer required
    • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer required
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screen acceptable under certain conditions)
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Declination required (strongly encouraged during flu season)

Documentation & Verification

  • Background Check required within 30 days of start, including multiple county and national searches
  • Education Verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
  • Transcript/Diploma required for certain specialties (e.g., RRTs)
  • Work History Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
  • Skills Checklist updated within 12 months required
  • Two clinical references required by Aya

Additional Notes

  • Floating within facility as needed
  • Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
  • Orientation and onboarding processes are strictly timed and compliance-driven

This position is suitable for Registered Nurses with at least 1 year of experience, including those new to travel nursing. The role involves working in a general medical surgical and peritoneal dialysis unit with every other weekend shifts and no on-call requirements.
