Description
Occupational Therapist - Inpatient & Acute Care
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Start Date: ASAP (must have active license prior to start; candidates with pending license considered)
Job Details
- Work Schedule: Sunday-Thursday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (5x8)
- One weekend day per month required
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
- Setting: Inpatient unit in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Therapy Requirement: Patients receive at least 3 hours of therapy, 5 out of 7 days per week
- Team: Multidisciplinary rehab team including PT, OT, and SLP
- Specialty Focus: Comprehensive inpatient and acute care with neurological conditions (stroke/brain impairment experience required), amputee experience preferred, spinal cord experience a bonus
- Facility Accreditation: CARF accredited program for general, stroke, and amputee rehabilitation
Requirements
- Specialty: Occupational Therapy / Therapy & Rehabilitation
- Years of Experience: Minimum 3 years required
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted with proper experience
- Licensure:
- Active state license required to start
- Facility will accept candidates with pending license but must be active before start
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA or ARC)
- Other:
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced inpatient acute care setting
- Experience with neurological rehab (stroke/brain impairment) is mandatory
- Amputee experience strongly preferred
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Education verification of highest degree required for the position
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually
- Physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Immunizations and health documentation including:
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (within 1 year, updated annually)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
- MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) documentation or titers
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- Varicella documentation or titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
- Skills checklist and competency exams as required, updated annually
Additional Notes
- Locals within 60 miles may be accepted at a lower rate (not relevant for candidate consideration)
- Facility-specific modules (SITELS) must be completed prior to start date
- One weekend day per month is required as part of the schedule
- Must be able to work collaboratively within a large multidisciplinary team
This position is ideal for Occupational Therapists with strong inpatient and acute care neurological rehab experience seeking a 6-month travel contract in a CARF accredited program. First-time travelers with the required experience and licensure are encouraged to apply.
