Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology (IR) Tech

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Interventional Radiology Tech)
  • Required Years of Experience: 6 months (minimum)
  • First-timers Accepted: No
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes, on-call
  • Call Requirements:
    • After hours on weeknights: 5:30 PM - 6:30 AM
    • 24-hour call on weekends (6:30 AM Saturday to 6:30 AM Sunday)
    • Call is rotated among all technologists
    • Minimum 2-hour call back if activated
  • Floating: No floating within or to sister facilities
  • Block Schedule: Open to accommodating Monday-Friday block schedule
  • Locals: No locals accepted within 75 miles
  • Pending State License: Accepted
  • RTO Restrictions: Time off greater than 7 days requires approval
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36-40 hours per week; facility may call off up to 3 times during a 13-week assignment
  • Overtime: OT applies after 48 hours on contracts signed on or after 10/30/2025

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • ARRT (R)
  • BLS (AHA or ARC; RQI not accepted)
  • New Mexico State License (original with 3D seal required onsite)
  • National Certification (required unless approved work history is provided)
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification, MOAB (as applicable to unit)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • Pass/Fail Testing (Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam) required for certain units
  • Fingerprinting (done onsite during orientation)
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification
  • Drug Testing: Negative drug screen within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
  • Physical Exam: Required within 1 year prior to start
  • Fit Mask: Required within 1 year of start (specific mask types accepted)
  • Immunizations:
    • COVID vaccination required (religious and medical exemptions accepted with form)
    • Flu vaccine required year-round (exceptions allowed with facility form)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer required)
    • Hepatitis B (declination, series, or titer)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • TB Questionnaire required annually

Skills & Competencies Required

  • Interventional Radiology procedures including but not limited to:
    • Adrenal Angiography, Aortography, Chemoembolization, Chest Tube Placement, Embolization
    • Endograft and Stent Placement, Esophageal and Ureteral Stent Placement
    • Gastrostomy Tube Placement, IVC filter placement/removal, Liver Biopsy
    • Mesenteric Angiogram, Paracentesis, Pelvic Angiography, Pulmonary Arteriography
    • Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) of the liver, Radioembolization, Renal Angiography
    • Selective Visceral Angiography, Superior Vena Cavogram, Thoracentesis
    • Catheter/drain exchange, Cholecystostomy, Cystoscopy, Internal/external biliary drainage
    • Nephrostomy, Percutaneous Stone Extraction, Percutaneous Transhepatic Cholangiogram
    • Uterine Arterial Embolization, Carotid Angiography, Discogram, Thrombolysis/Thrombectomy
    • Vertebroplasty, TIPS, Central Venous Access/Port Placement, Dialysis Graft Creation/Revision
    • EVAR, TEVAR, EKG, Site Prep, Scrub, Maintain Sterile Field, Isolation Precautions
    • Rapid Response Team participation

Additional Requirements & Notes

  • Valid non-local driver’s license required (ID cards not accepted)
  • Location is not near public transportation; candidates must have reliable transportation
  • Two professional references within three years of hire required
  • Work history verification for 3 years required (attestation letters acceptable)
  • Skills checklist required
  • Facility-specific compliance forms and training must be completed prior to start
  • Candidates must complete background registration and emergency contact forms
  • Candidates must review and sign confidentiality and compliance documents
  • No RQI certifications accepted for required certifications
  • Prior travel experience is required (first-timers not accepted)

This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for experienced IR Techs who meet the certification and experience requirements and are willing to work a travel contract in Albuquerque, NM with on-call and weekend responsibilities.
