Position Details

  • Specialty: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (IR RN)

  • Ratios: 1:1 patient ratio
  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week (facility may call off up to 3 times)

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Note: RQI certifications are NOT accepted.


Licensure

  • Must have a valid New Mexico professional license (original with 3D seal required onsite)
  • Pending licenses accepted
  • NURSYS verification required
  • Valid non-local driver’s license required (ID cards not accepted)

Background & Compliance

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within one year of start
  • Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (unless completed within past 12 months)
  • Education verification required (diploma or transcript acceptable if 3rd party verification unavailable)
  • Drug screen required within 30 days of start (negative result, no instant screens)
  • Physical exam required within 1 year prior to start
  • Fit mask test required within 1 year of start (specific N95 masks accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • Immunizations required:
    • Rubeola (Measles): 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer
    • Mumps: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer
    • Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer
    • Hepatitis B: Declination, series, or titer
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer (history of disease not accepted)
  • Flu vaccine required year-round with exemptions accepted (facility-specific form)
  • COVID vaccination required with religious and medical exemptions accepted (exemption form required)

Competency & Testing Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% to pass)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam required, 80% overall and 100% on Lethal Arrhythmia section)
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) through Relias required
  • Arrhythmia Exam Review and attestation required for certain units
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification may be required depending on unit
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification may be required depending on unit

  • Two professional references within three years of hire required
  • Work history verification of at least 3 years required
  • Work Experience Checklist and Confidentiality Statement not required due to crisis credentialing
  • Traveler Compliance Form and Welcome PowerPoint must be completed prior to start
  • Cerner Training Attestation required for RNs starting with 8/4/25 orientation group (test-out option available)

This position is ideal for experienced Interventional Radiology RNs with prior travel contract experience who meet the certification and licensure requirements and are comfortable working in a Level I Trauma and teaching hospital environment.
