Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Huntington, West Virginia
Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: CC Float Pool covering MICU, CVICU, OHICU, OHRR, NTICU
- Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts
- Schedule: Weekends and holidays as needed
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years ICU experience
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travel nurses are welcome)
Required Certifications
- ACLS (AHA only) – Required for PACU, OHRR (Post-Op), and all intensive care units
- BLS (AHA only) – Required for all candidates except MLTs and non-clinical staff
- PALS (AHA only) – Required for PACU, ER, and CC float
- NRP – As required
- TNCC – As required
- NIH Stroke Certification – Required for PACU & ICU
Licensure & Verification
- Active State Nursing License (Primary Source Verification required)
- NURSYS Verification (for all RNs)
- Transcript/Diploma or Education Verification (EDV acceptable substitute)
Background Checks & Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check within 1 year, updated annually
- Background check required within 90 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Drug testing through LabCorp within 30 days of start, updated annually
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands, updated annually
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (medical or religious exemptions only)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (QGold or T-Spot within 6 months, updated annually)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella – Positive titer or 2 vaccines (MMR boosters may pend at start)
- Hepatitis B – Surface antibody and antigen titer within 6 months, vaccination series or declination form required
- Varicella – Positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters may pend at start)
- Hepatitis A and C – Negative or antibody titers within 6 months
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination – Required annually (medical or religious exemptions require approval)
- COVID-19 Seasonal Vaccine – Required; declination form required if opting out
Competency & Orientation
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam within 6 months of start
- General Competency Exam within 6 months of start
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA compliance)
Documentation & Forms
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID) required and must be active
- New Hire Forms, Confidentiality Agreement, Standards of Behavior, IT Access, OSHA Post-Test, Voluntary Self-Identification, COVID Form, and other facility-specific documents must be completed prior to start
- TB Screening Questionnaire required with one-year expiration
References & History
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the system over 1 year
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
This position offers an opportunity to work in a large regional hospital with diverse ICU units, supporting critical care float pool needs. Night shifts and weekend/holiday coverage are expected. Prior travel experience is not required, making it suitable for nurses new to travel assignments.
