Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Odessa, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in the Main Operating Room
  • 2-3 years of experience strongly preferred (minimum 3 years to be safe)
  • Schedule: Monday to Thursday, with on-call duties 1 weekday and 1 weekend per month
  • Orientation: 3-4 days
  • Experience with robotic XI, orthopedic, spine/neuro, general/gyn, some ENT, ophthalmology, pain management, urology, vascular, and Trauma Level 2 cases

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - as applicable
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - as applicable
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as applicable
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - as applicable
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification - as applicable
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for RNs during orientation
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable

Required Licenses and Verifications

  • State Nursing License verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification for RN, LPN/LVN, AP within 30 days of start
  • Tech Cert Verification within 30 days of start
  • Background Check: 7-year check required within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
  • Fit Mask Test within 1 year, updated annually (N-95 or Halyard Orange Duckbill masks accepted; PAPR not accepted)
  • Immunizations/Vaccinations (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing):
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (within 1 year; chest X-ray within 2 years if positive)
    • Rubeola (Measles) - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Mumps - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Rubella - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Hepatitis B - positive titer, series, or declination accepted
    • Varicella - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; plan for completion within 72 hours of signing contract
  • Flu Seasonal Vaccination or Declination required during flu season (Oct-April)
  • COVID-19 Vaccine preferred but not required

  • 2 professional references within 3 years required
  • Copy of Resume/Application required
  • Skills Checklist required and must be updated annually

Additional Information

  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required and updated annually
  • Facility-specific documents such as Standards of Conduct, Dress Code Policy, Standards of Behavior, HIPAA and Fair Warning Quiz, and COVID declination forms required
  • Pass/Fail testing includes a pharmacology exam during orientation with up to 3 attempts allowed
