Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Home Health (Travel/Contract)

Job Description

• Provide, coordinate, and direct home nursing care according to physician orders and agency policies.
• Supervise and evaluate Home Health Aides and Licensed Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses.
• Conduct home visits with periodic office meetings.
• Average patient load: 5-8 patients per day.
• Types of cases include Start of Care, Wound Care, Follow-up Visits, etc.
• Must be willing to travel up to 75 miles from the home clinic.
• Reliable transportation, current driver's license, and agency-required liability insurance are required.
• Charting proficiency required with HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB); must have used it within the last 6 months or complete retraining.
• Dress code: Scrubs.

Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Home Health or Hospice)
• Experience: Minimum 1 full year of Adult Home Health experience OR 1 full year Hospice experience (whichever is higher).
• First-timers: Not accepted; must have recent specialty experience.
• Certifications: Current CPR and BLS required.
• Licensure: Must have license in hand; pending licenses not accepted.
• Weekend and On-call: Requirements vary by location and profession; discuss during interview.
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required.

• Local candidates accepted at the same rate.
• Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate; compensation is from patient home to patient home (commute to/from first and last patient is not billable).
• Some positions may have a Baylor shift schedule (4x10s Friday-Monday), but most are standard 5x8 Monday-Friday.

Compliance and Documentation Highlights

• Must have a valid driver’s license and personal/auto insurance for home health placements.
• Proficiency and/or retraining in HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) required.
• Required background checks including 7-year history, sex offender search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific searches.
• Fingerprinting required depending on state placement, with some states requiring in-person appointments.
• Education verification required.
• Health documents required: Physical exam within 12 months, negative TB or chest X-ray within 12 months, immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and COVID vaccination or declination.
• Drug testing: 10-panel drug screen required.
• References: Two references required for all placements.
• Work history verification: Must verify at least two most recent employers or last 7 years if only one employer.
• Candidates must review and sign various compliance, confidentiality, privacy, and policy documents prior to start and annually if working more than one year consecutively.
