Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Seattle, Washington


Position Overview

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Minimum Specialty Experience Required: 2 years (with C-Section experience preferred; intermediate AWHONN experience requires manager approval)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required (First Time Traveler OK)
  • Float Requirement: Must float to Postpartum unit

Unit & Patient Population

  • Work Setting: High Risk Antepartum Unit
  • Patient Care:
    • High Risk Antepartum care from 6 to 41 weeks gestation
    • Conditions include PTL, previa, preeclampsia, diabetes, hypertension, PROM, twins, substance use disorder in pregnancy
    • Care for fetal demise or loss (antepartum and postpartum)
    • Postpartum mothers with babies in NICU (no newborns on unit)

Clinical Responsibilities & Skills

  • Assist with sterile speculum exams (effacement, dilation, station, presentation)
  • Support amnio or sterile spec exam at bedside
  • Manage PCA pumps, PICC/central lines, syringe pumps
  • Administer medications including heparin, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy
  • Circulate for C-section procedures

Required Certifications

  • AWHONN Advanced
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred but not required

Licensing & Compliance

  • Active compact nursing license accepted for all Swedish facilities
  • Washington state multi-state licensed nurses must complete demographic attestation prior to start
  • Background check within 45 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years (updated annually)
  • Drug screen: 10 panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
  • Immunizations and health requirements:
    • TDAP within 10 years (declination accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (updated annually)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
    • COVID vaccine or declination

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete Providence WorkRamp modules as assigned (pre-start, specialty-specific, and annual regulatory modules)
  • Competency exams as applicable, including medication/pharmacology competency and fetal heart rate monitoring (EFM) training or certification
  • References: Minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in comparable specialty/setting
  • Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/subcontractors) with month/year format for dates worked
  • Float policy acknowledgment required (may float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance)
