Travel RN Opportunity - Medical Telemetry / IMC
Location: Portland, Maine
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Medical Telemetry, Intermediate Care (IMC)
- Shift: Day and Night shifts available
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed (including weekends)
- Call Requirements: None
- Float Requirements:
- IMC RNs may float to other IMC level care units or med/surg units as needed.
- Med/surg RNs may float to similar med/surg units.
- Floating depends on unit needs and RN skill level.
Experience & Certifications
- Required Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
- Must Have Skills:
- Ventilator experience for IMC RNs
- Experience with tracheostomy care
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
- Certifications Required: BLS
- Education: Mandatory onboarding education specific to the facility
Unit Information
- Number of Beds: 43
- Patient Ratios:
- Med/Surg Day Shift: 1:4-5
- Med/Surg Night Shift: 1:5-6
- IMC Day and Night: 1:3
- Patient Types: Respiratory, Medical Telemetry, some surgical cases, sepsis, DKA, altered mental status, failure to thrive, respiratory failure, and various acute on chronic medical conditions
- Equipment Used:
- Ventilators, BiPaP, CPAP (IMC patients)
- CPAP, Nasal Cannula, Non-Rebreather masks
- Epidural pumps, IV pumps, specialty beds, PCA pumps, VAC dressings
- Tracheostomy care and maintenance
- EMR System: Epic
Work Environment & Culture
- Personality Fit: Teamwork, flexibility, good communication, patient-centered care
- Dress Code: Professional scrubs required; no unprofessional clothing or non-hospital logos
