Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Shenandoah, Iowa
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Specialty & Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse
• Required Experience: At least 2 years, 3 years preferred
• Prior Travel Experience: No first-time travelers allowed (prior travel experience required)

Required Skills & Certifications

• Skills: Circulate, Ambulatory OR and general OR experience
• Preferred Experience: ENT, Endo, GYN, podiatry, and Ortho experience
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (AHA only, RQI accepted)
  • BLS (AHA only, RQI accepted)
  • PALS
  • State Nursing License (copy and online verification required)

Work Environment & Schedule

• Unit Details:

  • 4 OR rooms
  • Procedures include Ortho, Gyn, Urology, General, Cataracts, Pain injections, ENT, and OB
  • 5-10 surgical patients per day
• Call Requirements:

  • Call rotation with varying hours
  • Every 3rd weekend on call only (no scheduled weekend shifts)
  • If on weekend call, only 1-2 days during the week

Facility & Compliance Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • Within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Includes SSN Trace, Counties, Statewide, Nationwide, National Sex Offender
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Mandatory State Requirements:

  • Iowa SING Memorandum of Understanding (state-mandated)
  • Iowa Mandatory Reporter Certification (required prior to start)
• Facility Policies:

  • Code of Conduct, Confidentiality and Access to Information Agreement, Parking Policy, COVID-19 Employee Health Attestation (all must be reviewed and signed)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start date
• Immunizations/Vaccines:

  • Tdap (within last 10 years) or medical exemption
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (or documented past positive with follow-up)
  • TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if negative
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if negative
• Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Flu Vaccine or Declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31); mask required if declining
• Latex Allergy Screening required
• COVID-19 Vaccine (strongly recommended, not mandatory)

Additional Preferences

• Experience with Altera system preferred

This position is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses with prior travel assignments who meet the certification and compliance requirements for Iowa.
