Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Seattle, Washington
Position Overview
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 12 weeks
- Unit: High Risk/High Volume Labor & Delivery (L&D)
- Float Required: Postpartum / Antepartum; may float to sister facilities providing Mother/Baby care
- Schedule: Posted every 6 weeks; work every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Average Daily Census: 15 patients/day; 500-600 deliveries/month
- Rooms/Beds: 31
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years of nursing experience required (no exceptions)
- Must have 3-5 years experience in high acuity and high pace environments
- Highly prefer candidates with 5 years of high-risk experience; will consider 3+ years if high-risk experience is present
- Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
- Must have current supervisory references
- Must pass clinical review and provide proof of current NURSYS verification

- Midwifery clients
- Private OB patients
- Adult Recovery Services (substance recovery support)
- Community care clinics
Key Responsibilities & Skills
- Function as Baby Nurse during delivery and provide newborn care until transfer to postpartum (HARD STOP requirement)
- Circulate in the OR (HARD STOP requirement)
- Provide newborn care including eye care, Vitamin K injections (thighs), and newborn assessments (HARD STOP requirement)
- Administer medications such as Heparin, Insulin, Magnesium Sulfate
- Use EPIC electronic health record system (EPIC HARD STOP)
- Perform electronic fetal monitoring
- Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
Certifications Required
- Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Preferred:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- AWHONN Advanced and Intermediate certifications
- Must provide proof of all required certifications with submission
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Education verification required (nursing degree)
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
- Minimum of 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years
- Skills checklist updated annually (applicable units)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Fit mask test required for travel candidates (updated annually)
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TDAP (within 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Drug screening: 10 panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Respirator safety clearance required for travel candidates (annual)
Additional Requirements
- Must have current supervisory references
- Must provide proof of required certifications and NURSYS verification
- Must pass clinical review
- Must be able to float to related units as needed
- Pre-approved time off handled case-by-case
Important Notes
- Candidates without the required high-risk L&D experience or newborn care skills (circulating, newborn assessments, Vitamin K injections) will not be considered
- EPIC experience and electronic fetal monitoring certification are mandatory
- This position does not accept first-time travelers; prior travel experience is mandatory
This role is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with strong high-risk labor and delivery backgrounds who have prior travel contract experience and are comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
