Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ICU) - Chicago, Illinois

Position Details

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (No block scheduling)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
• Call Requirements: None
• Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive days; no holiday RTO; no RTO day before or after a holiday; no RTO on weekends
• Floating: Mandatory float facility; ICU RNs will float between Burn ICU, CCU, Medical ICU, SICU, Neuro ICU, and may float to Medical-Surgical units as needed
• Orientation: First week on day shift for orientation and precepting

Experience & Certification Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in ICU
• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification (required for ICU and critical care RNs)
• Licensing: Must have an active RN license; pending licenses are not accepted
• Local Candidates: Locals accepted and preferred; must live within 75 miles of the facility

Additional Requirements

• Background Checks: Comprehensive background checks covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years, updated annually
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
  • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, required annually
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination
  • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually (PPD not accepted after 12/15/2025)
  • Immunizations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer), Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer), Hepatitis B series or declination
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
• Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology, color blind testing, dysrhythmia/EKG competency (as applicable), all required within 12 months of start
• Facility-Specific Documents: Must complete facility-required forms and rules of behavior

• This position does not require prior travel experience.
• Floating is mandatory within ICU units and potentially to medical-surgical units.
• No holiday or weekend time off allowed.
• Locals preferred due to floating and scheduling requirements.
