Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU Travel/Contract Position

Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse - ICU
  • Required Years of Experience: 2 years ICU experience
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-timers accepted)
  • Shift Requirements: Weekend shifts every other weekend
  • Ratios: 1:2-3 patient ratio
  • Float Requirement: Must float within scope to like units as needed
  • Block Scheduling: Open to accommodating block scheduling
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted (50-mile radius rule from main campus)
  • Pending License: Not accepted
  • Guaranteed Hours: Call-off policy allows 2 shifts off per 13-week assignment; after that, all contracted hours are guaranteed
  • Return Staff Policy: Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
  • Contract Limit: Maximum of 2 contracts (can extend once), then must be gone for 6 months before returning

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Military only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Military only
  • NIH Stroke Certification (updated annually)
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) with a minimum 80% score, up to 3 attempts allowed
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (updated annually)

Background and Health Requirements

  • Background check required within 6 months of start
  • Physical exam required within 1 year, updated annually
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start, with annual renewal of TB screening form
  • Immunizations or titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years, no declinations accepted for new candidates)
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Flu vaccine required year-round; medical or religious exemptions accepted with facility-specific forms and approval
  • COVID-19 vaccination is not required but documentation is accepted if available

  • Must pass EKG competency exam (no exceptions)

    • Emergency Contact Form
    • Parking Registration (if driving)
    • Photo for badge (passport-style, professional)
  • Completion of facility orientation and modules prior to start
  • Return staff and contract extension policies strictly enforced
