Description

Pharmacy Position - Outpatient Operations Pharmacist

Location: Tuba City, Arizona
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Facility Overview

  • Serves a large, diverse community including Navajo, Hopi, and Southern Paiute tribes.
  • Provides comprehensive inpatient/outpatient emergency services, dental, ophthalmology, orthopedics, OB/GYN, oral and eye surgery, and urological procedures.
  • Approximately 49% of surgeries are outpatient/ambulatory.
  • Staff includes a wide range of medical providers and nursing professionals.

Position Summary

  • Role based in the Outpatient Pharmacy Department.
  • Responsible for daily operations of the outpatient pharmacy: managing staffing, workflow, assigning duties, maintaining compliance, and acting as liaison between staff and supervisor.
  • Provides comprehensive pharmacy and medication management services to patients across all age groups including pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, oncology, and obstetric patients.
  • Coordinates day-to-day operations and provides technical and administrative guidance to pharmacists, pharmacy technicians/trainees, aides, and billers.
  • May require working rotational shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

Education

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited school, OR
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (BS-Pharm) with 3 years of experience from an accredited school.

Licensure & Certification

  • Current, valid, unrestricted pharmacy license in any U.S. state, territory, or D.C.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (American Heart Association)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification (American Heart Association)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum: 3 years as a Registered Pharmacist (higher of the listed experience requirements).
  • Experience in inpatient pharmacy operations preferred.
  • Credentialed provider in pharmacy-managed clinics.
  • Board Certification in an ASHP-approved specialty such as Cardiology Pharmacy, Compounded Sterile Preparations, Critical Care, Infectious Diseases, Pharmacotherapy, or Emergency Medicine.

Additional Information

  • Orientation occurs every 2 weeks.
  • COVID & Flu vaccination exemptions may be accepted after submission of a declination form.
  • Limited housing options available: shared housing at $600/month, no family or pets allowed.
