Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Position
Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
Shift: Days, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Certifications / Licenses
- Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license
- BLS Certification (AHA)
- ACLS Certification (AHA)
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an RN (specialty experience)

Job Summary
The Registered Nurse coordinates and implements patient care tailored to the age group served on the assigned units. The RN ensures quality, efficient, and safe care consistent with unit standards and organizational goals. The role requires professionalism, respect, and effective communication with staff, physicians, patients, and families.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
- Obtain and record initial patient assessments; prioritize care based on age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs
- Systematically reassess patients to identify progress or need for intervention
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans within nursing standards
- Make comprehensive nursing decisions and modify care plans accordingly
- Participate in patient and family health education and discharge planning
- Perform Point of Care testing procedures
Staff and Team Responsibilities
- Use effective communication to achieve intended outcomes
- Delegate and coordinate unit work assignments to ensure completion of patient care activities
- Follow chain of command for issue resolution
- Participate in orientation of new staff and students
- Serve as a resource to visitors, physicians, and staff
- Promote a positive, professional, and supportive work environment
- Collaborate to achieve unit and organizational goals
Customer Relations
- Exhibit behaviors that promote high patient/customer satisfaction and respect for rights and confidentiality
- Demonstrate effective communication and teamwork skills
- Maintain the hospital’s credibility, integrity, and positive image
- Support the mission, goals, and continuous improvement efforts of the organization
Other Responsibilities
- Assist with special projects as assigned
- Interpret and communicate Human Resources policies accurately
- Adapt readily to changes in work environment or schedule
- Maintain a positive attitude during stressful periods

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and x-rays
- Clean, well-lit, ventilated, smoke-free environment
- Varied and flexible working hours due to emergencies or schedule changes
- Must handle emergency/crisis situations and prolonged standing/walking
- Requires physical effort for positioning, pushing, transferring patients or equipment
- Requires reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
- Normal or correctable hearing and vision; manual dexterity and fine motor coordination required
Supervision
- Reports to Patient Care Director or Manager
On-Call Requirement
- One call night per week
- Two weekends of call per month
