Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Pediatrics) - Travel/Contract

Shift Requirements:

  • Weekend: Every other weekend required
  • Float: Yes
  • Ratios: Average 1:4

Experience & Licensure Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse - Pediatrics
  • Required Years of Experience: 2 years
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Pending License: Accepted (with restrictions)
  • RTO Restrictions: Return to Office (RTO) greater than 7 days requires approval
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Certifications Required

  • Mandatory:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
  • Recommended/Check Unit Description:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Not required for Pediatric Stepdown
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - Required for NICU
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required for ER, preferred for Pediatric ER
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Required for Psychiatry/Behavioral Health, preferred for ER
    • NIH Stroke Certification - Required for all RNs except Behavioral Health, Case Management, Home Health, OR, NICU, Labor and Delivery, and Pediatric specialties
    • Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., CHEMO for Oncology)

Background Checks & Verifications

  • 7-year criminal background check (updated annually)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Education verification including foreign equivalency for internationally educated RNs
  • State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification within 30 days of start

Competency Exams & Testing

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (85% passing score required)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates starting 8/2/2024, 80% passing score)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry, MS/Tele, ER, all ICU units; not required for Neuro ICU, SICU, NICU)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (3M N95 preferred)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation
  • TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (or declination within 1 year)
    • Varicella
  • Tdap vaccination highly preferred for Pediatric specialties, Labor and Delivery, Postpartum (declination accepted)
  • 10 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (09/01 - 03/31)
  • COVID vaccination preferred

Facility-Specific Training & Documents

Candidates must complete and attest to the following training modules (attestations can be completed via DocuSign):

  • Stroke Education (not required for Pediatric specialties and NICU)
  • CLABSI Prevention for Adult and Pediatric
  • Preventing Pressure Injury
  • Language Services Training
  • CAUTI Education Training (except PICU, NICU, Psychiatry/Behavioral Health)
  • Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
  • Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
  • Pyxis ES MedStation Modules (not required for some campuses)
  • Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
  • Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
  • Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (not required for some campuses)
  • AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health/Psych, Home Health)
  • New Employee Orientation Module
  • 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RN except Home Health)
  • ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
  • eCart Training Module (not required for Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health)
  • Chaperone Policy Training (required if gap >6 months or updated module)

Employment History & Documentation

  • 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days required
  • Work history verification for all start dates on/after 8/2/2024
  • Skills checklist required within 12 months of start
  • Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for certain tech and specialty roles

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

This position offers a comprehensive set of requirements and training to ensure compliance and readiness for a Pediatric RN role in a Level I Trauma Center environment.
