Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac ICU (CTICU)
Location: New Haven, Connecticut
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Description
- Unit: Cardiac ICU (CTICU)
- Start Date: ASAP
- Patient Ratios: Average 1:2 (days and nights)
- Experience Required:
- Minimum 3 years of Cardiac ICU experience (highest requirement)
- Must have 1 year of Level 1 Trauma Center experience
- First-timers: Accepted if they have Cardio Thoracic ICU and/or critical care experience
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Pending License: Accepted
- Guaranteed Hours: Yes
- Special Skills: Proficiency with Swan-Ganz monitoring required
- Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Level I Trauma Center
- Charting System: Epic
Required Certifications
- NIH Stroke Certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check required within 12 months of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification required, including foreign equivalency for internationally educated RNs
- Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
Competency Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 85%)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates starting 8/2/2024, must score 80%)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for all ICU units including Cardiac ICU)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (3M N95 preferred)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations or titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (or declination within 1 year)
- Varicella
- Tdap vaccination highly preferred for certain specialties (not required here)
- 10 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
- COVID vaccination preferred

- Stroke Education Module and Attestation (except Pediatric specialties and NICU)
- CLABSI Prevention Training
- Preventing Pressure Injury Training
- Language Services Training
- CAUTI Education Training (except PICU, NICU, Psychiatry/Behavioral Health)
- Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
- Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
- Pyxis ES MedStation Modules
- Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
- Patient Bedside Rounding Module (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
- Ventricular Assist Device Awareness
- AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers and Behavioral Health/Psych and Home Health)
- New Employee Orientation Module
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RN except Home Health)
- ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
- eCart Training Module (not required for Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health)
- Chaperone Policy Training (required as of 5/31/2024)
Additional Requirements
- Must provide a 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days
- Skills checklist required within 12 months of start
- Work history verification for last 7 years required for all start dates on/after 8/2/2024
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for certain tech roles (not applicable here)
