Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Stockbridge, Georgia
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of specialty experience required
• Prior travel experience required (1st timers not accepted)

Patient Population

• Adults to Geriatrics

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Clinical Skills & Work Setting

• Overflow IMCU (Intermediate Care Unit)
• Arrhythmia management, cardioversion
• Cardiac conditions: CHF, chest pain, stable arrhythmias (A-Fib, SVT, bradycardia)
• Renal and pulmonary conditions (COPD, pulmonary edema, PE, DVT)
• Surgical patients (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains)
• Occasional vascular, orthopedic, or CVA patient overflow
• Post cardiac catheterization care including TR Bands
• Experience with cardiac drips and hemodynamic monitoring post PCI
• Med/Surg umbrella care
• Cardiac drip medications knowledge: amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, nitroglycerin, milrinone, heparin, argatroban, aggrastat, bumex, lasix

Unit Details

• Nurse to patient ratio: 1:5-6
• 32 beds
• Unit systems: Epic (preferred), Pyxis, SBAR
• Scrub color: Navy Blue

Schedule & Work Conditions

• Return to office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
• Weekend shifts: Every other weekend
• Floating: Yes, within the facility
• Call: Rare, 2-hour response time
• Holiday work: Required to work major holidays depending on assignment length (up to 2 holidays)

Compliance & Orientation

• Full compliance required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
• Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 14 weeks = 14 hours)

Required Documentation & Screening

• Background check within 30 days of start
• Education verification (degree related to specialty)
• State license verification (Georgia RN license required)
• Annual NURSYS verification
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
• TB questionnaire updated annually
• Immunizations: MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine or declination
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Clinical references (2 required)
• Skills checklist updated within 12 months
• Work history verification (most recent employer)

Competency Exams

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
• Color blind testing
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (3 attempts allowed)
• General competency exam for nursing

Additional Notes

• Travelers typically do not manage Precedex (reserved for core staff)
• Locals accepted at same rate
• Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start

This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with cardiac and med/surg skills who meet the certification and compliance requirements and have prior travel experience.
