Job Opportunity: MRI Technologist (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Role: MRI Technologist
  • Facility Type: Tertiary Care Hospital, Level 1 Trauma Center
  • Beds: Approximately 456 staffed beds
  • Magnet Recognition: 5-time Magnet Aware Winner
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Scrub Color: Navy
  • Parking: Free

Experience & Requirements

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Years of Experience Required: 2 years (higher value from description)
  • First-timers Accepted: Yes, if they have 2 years of experience
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes, blocked shifts
  • On-call Requirement: Yes, approximately 1 night per week (00:00-06:00)
  • Floating: Yes, within service line
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from facility
  • Pending License: Not accepted
  • Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 7 days
  • Guaranteed Hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks (cancelled shifts must be regular shift length)

  • ARRT MR (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Magnetic Resonance)
  • ARRT R (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Radiography)

Skills Required

  • Isolation Precautions
  • Preparation and/or administration of contrast media

  • Adult Acute Care, Adult ICU, Adult Outpatient
  • Abdomen MRI including MRA and MRV
  • MR Cardiac with/without Contrast
  • Experience with GE MRI systems (1.5T and 3T)
  • PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System)
  • Brain, Head MRA and MRV
  • Neck MRV
  • Radiation Safety
  • Starting Peripheral IV’s
  • T-1 and T-2 Weighted Images
  • Cervical, Lumbar, Spinal Trauma imaging

Equipment & Environment

  • MRI Systems: GE 1.5T and 3T
  • Patient Types: Inpatient (IP), Outpatient (OP), ICU
  • Trauma Level: Level 1 Trauma
  • Cardiac imaging preferred

Scheduling & Work Conditions

  • Block schedule accommodation: No
  • On-call: Yes, about 1 night per week
  • Floating: Yes, within scope of service line

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued ID required
  • Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
  • Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Education verification required before start
  • Various state-specific background checks (Missouri and Illinois)
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be valid throughout assignment
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
  • Immunizations and titers required or declinations accepted for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
  • Various facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene policy, dress code policy, and orientation modules must be completed prior to start
  • Competency exams and skills checklists required and must be updated annually
  • References: Two professional references required, preferably supervisors within the last year

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be able to comply with all facility policies and complete required training modules prior to start
  • Candidates must be prepared for on-call shifts and floating within the service line
  • Local candidates within 75 miles are not eligible for this travel assignment
