Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room Circulator
- Location: Augusta, Georgia
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 14 weeks
- Shift: 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM and 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (rotating)
- Hours: 72 hours over two weeks (5 days one week, 4 days the next)
- Days Off: 1 day off every other week
- Weekend Requirement: None
- Floating: Rare
- Call Requirements: No formal call, but may need to stay late depending on room completion status
- Holiday Work: Expected to work major holidays during assignment (1 holiday = work it; 2 holidays = work both; 3 holidays = work two)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum Specialty Experience: 1 year as an RN circulator in the intraoperative setting
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required; 1st time travelers accepted
Patient Population & Specialties
- Patient population ranges from Pediatrics to Geriatrics
- Specialties include:
- Retina surgery
- Total hip/knee replacements
- Hand surgery
- Breast oncology and reconstruction
- ENT
- Laparoscopic cholecystectomy
- Hernia repairs
- Podiatry
Unit & Work Environment
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Rooms: 5 rooms with an average daily census of 18
- Unit Systems: Epic, Pyxis
- Scrub Color: Provided by facility
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days allowed
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
- Other certifications may be required depending on specialty or unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP), but BLS is mandatory for this role
Compliance & Orientation
- Full compliance with documentation and certifications required to start on time
- Orientation hours are non-billable and depend on contract length (e.g., 14 weeks = 14 hours orientation)
- Background checks, education verification, and other pre-employment screenings required prior to start
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
- Drug screening (10-panel) within 30 days of start, negative results required before starting
- Required vaccinations or proof of immunity for:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (or signed declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season
- Annual TB questionnaire required regardless of TB status
Competency Exams & Testing
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
- Color blindness testing required (with alternative assessment if needed)
- Other competency exams may be required depending on unit (e.g., Dysrhythmia/EKG exam)
Additional Notes
- Candidates will be clinically screened for fit before final approval
- Locals accepted at the same rate
- References and work history verification required (can be pending with proof of processing)
- Dress and professional appearance policies must be reviewed and followed
- Code of Conduct acknowledgment required prior to start
