Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Manchester, New Hampshire
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- NRP certification required
- Full float to Labor & Delivery (L&D) required; must be fully trained in circulating, OB PACU, and high-risk OB (no modified assignments for L&D float; no baby catching required)
- Competent in couplet care with nurse/patient ratio of 3-4 couplet assignments
- Must be able to float to one other unit in women’s & children’s department with modified assignment: NICU or Pediatrics
- Competent with NST for antepartum patients
- Assignments may include GYN surgical, antepartum, couplet care, well nursery, and assisting with circumcisions as needed
Required Skills / Certifications / Experience
- Minimum 1 year of Registered Nurse experience required
- Prior travel experience not required (first-time travelers accepted)
- Epic experience required (medication, documentation, communication systems)
- Orientation: 24 hours total (1 day HealthStream unit assignments, 2 days on-unit orientation ideally)
- Scrubs: Any color allowed
Work Schedule & Requirements
- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
- Call: None
- Float: Yes, including baby catching in L&D
- Weekend: Every other weekend required
Certifications (AHA Provider Only)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) preferred
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
- NIH Stroke Certification (if applicable)
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Medication Test / Pharmacology Competency Exam (internal purposes)
- Competency Exam (internal purposes)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required within 48 hours of contract signing for certain units (pass score 80%)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for specific units
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 30 days of start including:
- Social Security Verification
- National Sex Offender Registry
- National Criminal Search
- FACIS L3
- Education Verification
- Criminal county/state searches (excluding NH counties; NH State Police Search required)
- BEAS State Registry (NH placements)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Drug screen: 10-panel within 14 days prior to start (7-day grace period allowed)
- Social Security Verification within 30 days of start
- Education verification required (High School acceptable for CNAs)
- State license verification and copy required (including NH specific license rules)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- Annual fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (medical or religious exemptions allowed with documentation)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (2-step PPD or equivalent) plus TB questionnaire required
- Immunity or vaccination documentation required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (declinations accepted with waiver)
- Varicella (history of disease NOT accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during October 31 - April 1 period (medical or religious exemptions allowed with documentation)
- Respiratory Safety Clearance required (virtual questionnaire reviewed by healthcare professional)
Additional Requirements
- Two current professional references within last 3 years (one must be from a supervisor or charge RN)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Annual internal evaluation for travelers with Aya or agency for 1+ years
- Facility-specific documents such as photo for badge, auto insurance proof (if applicable), and compliance attestations required
- Various facility-specific exemption forms for flu, Hep B, and Tdap vaccines available for medical or religious exemptions
Notes
- Travelers who have ever been former employees of the associated health system are not considered
- No call requirement but floating and weekend work required
- Must be able to work night shifts as specified
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of experience, comfortable with women’s and children’s health units, and willing to float within the department. Prior travel experience is not required.
