Nursing Contract Opportunity - Wrangell, Alaska
Position Summary
- Coordinate a variety of nursing care procedures for residents of various ages.
- Provide leadership and collaborate with ancillary nursing and healthcare team members.
- Follow physicians' orders, standards of care, nursing policies, and long-term care guidelines.
- Participate in patient and family teaching.
Key Responsibilities
- Make independent clinical decisions during shifts; consult supervisors as needed.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to CNAs, LPNs, and ward clerks.
- Implement safe, therapeutic, and efficient care for patients with multisystem diseases or treatment complications.
- Prioritize care based on patient acuity and preferences.
- Administer age-specific medications and therapeutics accurately.
- Coordinate resident care activities with physicians and healthcare team.
- Provide individualized, goal-oriented nursing care based on scientific principles and nursing process.
- Educate residents and families about tests, procedures, disease processes, and care plans.
- Provide emotional and psychological support; involve other professionals for psychosocial issues.
- Evaluate resident progress and revise care plans accordingly.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
- Conduct thorough nursing assessments and document findings.
- Identify nursing diagnoses and distinguish between normal and abnormal assessments.
- Participate in care conferences and develop educational programs for staff and residents.
- Communicate constructively with staff, residents, families, and healthcare team.
- Assist in orientation and mentoring of new staff, travelers, and students.
- Follow and enforce hospital and departmental policies and standards.
- Serve as Charge Nurse when Director of Nursing is not present.
- Attend at least 50% of departmental staff meetings and participate in unit goal setting.
- Maintain certifications, licensure, and complete mandatory training and competency checks.
- Comply with mandatory state reporting guidelines and timelines.

- Location: Wrangell, Alaska
- Employment Type: Contract

- Must provide 2 fingerprint cards upon acceptance.
- Must have flu vaccine.
- SEARHC requires travelers to live at least 50+ miles away from the facility.
