Job Opportunity: Occupational Therapist (OT) - Therapy/Rehabilitation

Location: Paynesville, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position primarily inpatient/TCU with some outpatient adult and long-term care (LTC) responsibilities.
  • Caseload mostly adults (inpatient), with some outpatient and potential pediatric outpatient cases.
  • Work schedule: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (08:00 AM - 04:30 PM).
  • No call or weekend shifts.
  • No work on holidays, but presence required the day before and after holidays; Christmas Eve is a half day.
  • Start date: ASAP, any Monday.

Requirements

  • Specialty: Occupational Therapy (OT)
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of OT experience (adult inpatient focus).
  • Licensure: OTR/L required.
  • Preferred: Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required.

Certifications & Competencies

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred but not explicitly required for this role.
  • Other certifications (PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) not required for this specialty.
  • Competency exams as applicable by profession, must be updated annually.

Background & Compliance Checks

  • Criminal background check required within 1 year of start, including:
    • 7-year search
    • Social Security trace
    • County and nationwide criminal search
    • Sex offender registry check
    • Education verification (third party or diploma acceptable)
  • Minnesota DHS NetStudy Fingerprint clearance required prior to start (no pending fingerprints allowed).
  • GSA/SAM and OIG excluded provider checks required.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 6 months to 1 year of start.
  • Fit testing for N95 masks required.
  • Tdap vaccination required (no religious declinations accepted).
  • TB screening per Minnesota state guidelines (2-step PPD or equivalent within 90 days).
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity proof required (positive titer or 2 vaccines).
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or positive titer required (declination not accepted).
  • Varicella immunity proof required (positive titer or 2 vaccines).
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or documented declination required annually (mask required if declined).
  • Drug testing not required for client clearance but recommended within 1 year of start.

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references from recent employers within 2 years required.
  • Skills checklist and work history verification required.
  • Candidate must complete facility-specific education modules during orientation (~16 hours).
  • Dress code adherence required (no specific details for OT, but general facility dress code applies).
  • Confidentiality agreement must be signed prior to start.
  • Photo for badge required (grey background, no selfies or professional photos except headshots).

  • Candidates must complete the Minnesota DHS NetStudy Fingerprint Questionnaire immediately after signing the contract to avoid delays.
