Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Melbourne, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse

• Ratios: 1:5 patient-to-nurse ratio
• Weekend Requirement: Yes, every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period (unit dependent)

• Float Requirement: Yes, may float to other units or locations within the system
• Block Scheduling: Not guaranteed

Licensure & Certifications

• License: Florida State or compact license required at time of submission (pending license not accepted)
• Certifications Required:

  • ACLS (AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI accepted)
  • BLS (AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI accepted)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (must be renewed annually)
• Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM for Labor & Delivery)

Immunizations & Health Requirements

• Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/31 - 3/31); medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation
• Physical exam within 6 months prior to start (valid for 5 years)
• Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (strict shaving policy, no PAPR alternative)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months prior to start (valid for 5 years)
• Titers required within 5 years for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• 10 Panel Drug Screen within 90 days of start (must include marijuana; witnessed urine collection required for instant tests)

Background & Compliance

• Background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check required within 90 days of start
• Monthly HHS/OIG checks required
• Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting mandatory if no prior clearance)
• Education verification required; candidates from certain institutions are not accepted
• Two professional references from authority figures within the last 12 months required
• Current employment application or resume dated within 90 days of start required

Scheduling & Work Conditions

• Contracted hours guaranteed
• Locals accepted at same rate as travelers
• Floating to other units or locations within the system expected

Additional Notes

• A clear, passport-style photo with a white background is required for badge
• Auto insurance required for Home Health roles
• Radiation badge monitoring form required for Radiology, Interventional Radiology, Cath Lab, OR, and Pain Clinic units
• Facility-specific documents including job description acknowledgment, confidentiality agreement, and values must be completed

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with at least 1 year of specialty experience, who hold the required certifications and licensure, and are comfortable with floating and weekend shifts. Prior travel experience is not required but first-time travelers are not accepted.
