Description
Job Opportunity: Surgical Services (CST) - Travel/Contract
Location: Taos, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Day shift, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM
- Schedule includes 4 ten-hour shifts and 5 eight-hour shifts per week
- Call required
- 40 hours per week
- Monday through Friday
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
- Strong skills in Orthopedic surgery required
- Da Vinci robotic surgery training is a plus
- Must be nationally certified as a CST
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or equivalent
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as required
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) but primarily BLS and CST certification are essential
Licensure
- Must have a valid professional license as applicable
- Primary source verification required within 30 days of start
Prior Travel Experience
- No explicit requirement for prior travel experience mentioned
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Proof of I9 or attestation
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background check: 7-year criminal history check within a year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (instant drug screen not acceptable)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Immunizations and health documents required, including:
- TDAP (within past 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccination or titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination series and/or titer
- Varicella vaccination or titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination during flu season
- COVID vaccination series or declination form
Orientation & Competency
- Completion of Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) with a passing score of at least 80% prior to start
- Facility-specific orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required
- Professional photo for badge prior to arrival
- Fit testing for masks arranged onsite during orientation
Additional Notes
- Must complete facility-specific forms including TB questionnaire, COVID and flu declination forms if applicable, confidentiality agreements, code of conduct, and other policy acknowledgments prior to start
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required
- Employment application/resume must include a 7-year work history with detailed information on locations, positions, and dates
This position is ideal for experienced CSTs with strong orthopedic skills looking for a 13-week travel assignment in New Mexico with a reputable healthcare facility.
