Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (OR RN) - Travel/Contract

Location: Hagerstown, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Position Details

• Specialty: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
• Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
• First-time Travelers: Not accepted (prior travel experience required)
• Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, some Saturday day shifts available
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: No weekends required
• On-call Requirement: No call required
• Floating: Not applicable
• Locals Accepted: Yes, same base rate
• Pending License Accepted: Yes
• Return to Office Restrictions: 1 request allowed
• Special Requirements: Experience heavy on Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Vascular preferred; also GYN, General Surgery
• Cases Include: General, Vascular, Orthopedics (including joints), Neurosurgery, Urology, Plastics, Bariatrics, Laparoscopic procedures, GYN, ENT, Robotics
• Operating Rooms: 10 rooms daily starting at 7:30 AM
• Electronic Medical Record System: EPIC required

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• Maryland nursing license or compact state license (with proof of residency matching compact license state)

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types preferred)
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with specific requirements for PPD tests)
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccination, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year
• Flu vaccine required (no declinations accepted) for 2025-26 season
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and fingerprinting (for school placements only)

Additional Requirements

• Proof of 2 clinical references
• Skills checklist updated annually (if applicable)
• Competency exams as applicable (e.g., medication/pharmacology, moderate sedation for IR RNs)
• NIH Stroke Certification required (except Pediatrics, OB, and L&D units)
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement

Notes

• Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers will not be considered.
• Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced OR environment with a diverse case mix.
• Flexibility for some Saturday shifts and block scheduling is available.
• Pending licenses are accepted with proper documentation.
