Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Abilene, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: RN Main OR
  • Start Date: Preferred within the next 3-4 weeks (bi-weekly orientation schedule)
  • Work Schedule: Monday to Wednesday with call and late days as needed
  • Specialty Areas: Neuro/Spine, Ortho/Trauma, General/Robotics/Trauma
  • Required Experience: Craniotomy and burr hole experience required

Required Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam – as applicable
  • Color Blind Testing (Online Relias Ishihara version acceptable)
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) – required for Telemetry RNs
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual update required)
  • State License Verification (within 30 days of start)
  • NURSYS Verification (within 30 days of start)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7 Year Background Check required within 1 year of start; updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education Verification (highest level) required
  • State-specific checks for Texas (DADS Employability Status Check and Employee Misconduct Registry) within 30 days of start
  • Facility-specific acknowledgments and forms must be reviewed and signed prior to start (e.g., Vaccination Information, TB and Occupational Exposure, Patient Centered Pledge, Contract Employee Receipt, Confidentiality Statement, Corporate Compliance, Employee Misconduct Registry, Self Identify Form, Relationship to Physician Form, Authorization for Background Check, Traveler Identification Form)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract)
  • Fit Mask (3M 1860 Regular or 3M 1860S) – annual update required
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (PPD or Qgold/Tspot) within 1 year of start; annual TB questionnaire for positive responders
  • Rubeola (Measles) – positive titer or 2 vaccines required; MMR booster if negative/equivocal
  • Mumps – positive titer or 2 vaccines required; MMR booster if negative/equivocal
  • Rubella – positive titer or 2 vaccines required; MMR booster if negative/equivocal
  • Hepatitis B – positive titer, series (3), or declination accepted; booster or declination post titer if low/equivocal
  • Varicella – positive titer or 2 vaccines required; booster if negative/equivocal
  • Drug Testing – negative 10 panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start; facility conducts additional drug screen upon arrival
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination (2025-26) required between 10/1/2025 and 3/31/2026; religious or medical exemptions accepted
