Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN)

Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
  • Patient Ratios: 1:6-7
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: Yes, within scope to like units or sister facilities
  • First-time travelers: Accepted

Experience & Licensing Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: 2 years
  • Licenses: South Carolina RN license or Compact license must be active prior to start
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIH Stroke Certification preferred
  • Special Competencies: Telemetry competency required
  • Preferred Experience: Previous charge nurse experience and community hospital experience

Scheduling & Work Conditions

  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Block schedule accommodation possible but not guaranteed

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background Checks:
    • Annual background check covering last 7 years
    • SSN Trace, Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Education Verification: Required (diploma/transcripts accepted as placeholder)
  • Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required; NURSYS verification for RNs
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam updated annually
    • Fit mask test onsite during orientation (no PAPR available)
    • Immunizations and titers: Tdap (within 10 years or declination), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest x-ray if prior positive
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
    • COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
  • Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology and general competency exams required
  • Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers required

Orientation & Facility Specifics

  • Completion of orientation modules (approx. 4-6 hours) prior to start is mandatory
  • Clear, passport-style photo required for badge (frontal view, business attire)
  • Facility-specific job description must be signed prior to start
  • Emergency response team assignments possible during hurricane season (June-November)

Additional Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
  • Floating between units is expected within the scope of practice
  • Telemetry competency is mandatory
