Job Description

• Role: Operating Room Registered Nurse
• Must be able to circulate in orthopedics, spine, robotics, and general surgery
• Heavy orthopedic experience required
• Shift: Three 12-hour day shifts, block scheduling available
• Call required and rotating weekends
• Charting system: Epic experience required
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of specialty experience required
• Prior travel experience: Not required

Certifications & Licenses Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as applicable
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) as applicable
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) as applicable
• CHEMO (Chemotherapy) as applicable
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) as applicable
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) as applicable
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) as applicable
• State License verification required (primary source online verification)
• NURSYS Verification required for RN license

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
• Education verification required (highest level of education)
• Work history verification for 7 years required (NJ state mandates minimum 1 year prior to start with no gaps over 30 days)
• Complete application/resume required
• Unit-specific skills checklist required annually

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, must be renewed annually
• Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years of start
• Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year of start
• TB questionnaire within 90 days of start for positive results, renewed annually
• Immunizations or positive titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (or declination)
  • Varicella (Chickenpox)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required

Additional Notes

• Clear headshot photo required for badge
• Various competency exams required as applicable (medication/pharmacology, color blind testing, general competency exams)
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement and HIPAA compliance required
• Driver’s license or state ID required

This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with strong orthopedic skills who are comfortable with block scheduling and call responsibilities. Prior travel experience is not required, making it accessible for first-time travel nurses.
