Job Opportunity: Surgical Services (CST) - Travel/Contract

Location: Westwood, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Surgical Services (CST) with heavy orthopedic experience required
• Shift: 3 shifts, 12-hour mids; block schedule available
• Must take call and work rotating weekends
• Locals within 50 miles are not accepted
• Prior travel experience is not required

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience in Surgical Services (CST) with heavy ortho experience

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
• ACLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, MAB, CPI as applicable
• State License verification (primary source online verification required)
• Tech Cert Verification - National (as applicable)
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA compliance)

Compliance & Background Checks

• 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
• Education verification required (highest level)
• Work history verification for 7 years (NJ requires minimum 1 year prior verified with limited gaps)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
• Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
• TB questionnaire if positive results, renewed annually
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
• Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
• Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history required
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required (including documentation and exemption attestations)

Competency Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% passing or meet Angoff score)
• Color Blind Testing (online version acceptable)
• Competency exams as applicable to profession (minimum 80% passing or meet Angoff score)
• Annual core testing for subcontractors

Additional Notes

• Must have a valid Driver’s License or State ID
• Clear headshot photo required for badge
• Fingerprinting required for new contracts (specific to some states)
• Complete application/resume required
• Unit-specific skills checklist required annually

This position is ideal for a Surgical Technologist with orthopedic experience looking for a 13-week travel contract in New Jersey, willing to work 12-hour mid shifts with call and weekend rotations. Prior travel experience is not required.
